Does PLUNA produce ozone?

Short answer

Making plasma can also make ozone and nitrogen oxides, a known challenge for every plasma device. PLUNA is built on FEAGLE’s NoZone Cold Plasma (NCP) technology, which is designed to keep ozone and nitrogen oxides controlled while the plasma stays dense and steady. That is where the NoZone name comes from.

Why plasma devices can make ozone

Plasma is air given enough energy that some of it becomes electrically charged. Air is mostly nitrogen and oxygen, and when it is energized, some of it can form ozone and nitrogen oxides as by-products.

Why turning the plasma down is not the answer

Simply turning the plasma down to cut those gases also weakens the plasma. FEAGLE’s approach was to control the by-products without giving up a dense, steady plasma. NoZone Cold Plasma is designed to do both.

How PLUNA is built around it

  • NoZone Cold Plasma. Designed to keep ozone and nitrogen oxides controlled.
  • U-Turn Technology. A patented pathway recirculates and controls the plasma inside the head. The discharge that creates the plasma never touches the skin directly.
  • Room air only. No gas cylinder or consumable gas.
  • A vent at the back. Keep the exhaust port clear. The fan runs for 5 seconds after the device stops.
